In partnership with a range of training providers, JMC Training has access to a catalogue of different aircraft type courses including:
JMC’s Aeronautical Study Programme, created and delivered in partnership with Somerset College, was born out of recognition that there was a severe shortage of Apprentices coming through the traditional channels.
Those apprentices and graduates that were entering the market place, were focussing on career paths that would see them move towards becoming Part 66 licenced engineers, supervisors and eventually maintenance managers/directors, effectively taking them off the tools altogether.
The shortfall in emerging talent was limited not just to mechanics but to other skilled trades such as ‘Sheet Metal Workers’. There was a real danger that this skill-set could become extinct in the next decade.
Whatever the reason for the decline, be it financial pressure, a change in the UK maintenance market or a lack of promotion as a viable career opportunity, something needed to be done.
After identifying a suitable partner organisation, in Somerset College, we set about designing a course that would provide the following training for college students:
Thanks to our association with JMC Recruitment, we are well placed to secure steady employment for the graduates of the course within the UK MRO sector.
Our Aeronautical Transition Training Course has been designed to provide experienced fitters and technicians from non-aviation backgrounds with the knowledge and understanding necessary to work in the modern aviation maintenance environment.
We take experienced, highly-skilled fitters and technicians who have already completed apprenticeships and time served in other industries and put them through an intensive familiarisation programme.
The course is delivered over a 10 day period with a minimum of 60hrs tuition covering the following:
Following the successful completion of the classroom based learning, each student will be placed within a live maintenance team where they will be closely supervised by a nominated team leader.
Each student will then have an assessment every month and a competency and skills test every 6 months.
Once the individuals are placed in a live maintenance environment, JMC will continue to conduct quarterly site visits during which meetings will be held with the supervising team leaders to discuss progress and additional learning needs.
Past graduates of the JMC Aeronautical Transition Course and work experience training have gone on to gain Part 66 B1 licences and have taken on the roles of maintenance supervisors and engineering managers within internationally renowned MROs.
The SFAR 88 training course examines the history of events related to fuel tank safety, taking into account both the theoretical and practical elements of the subject matter.
The course is based on an overview of the current FAA SFAR (Special Federal Aviation Regulation) 88 regulations.
Our course is based around ensuring fuel tank safety, how maintenance personnel can recognise, interpret and handle the improvements in the instructions for continuing airworthiness, hazard awareness and the flammability reduction system using nitrogen installations.
We will also look at the threats posed by combustible materials in the aviation environment alongside ignition prevention and the regulatory requirements.
EWIS is a mandatory training requirement. The subject matter is provided in varying depths of detail based on the target audience. The aim of EWIS training is to:
“improve the airworthiness code for large airplanes and the requirements for continued airworthiness in the field of electrical wiring interconnection systems since failures in those systems have been identified as causal factors in several incidents and accidents involving large airplanes”.
The theory portion of these courses, along with regular refresher courses, can be delivered in a classroom environment or via our e-learning platform.
The Human Factors training programme provides students with an understanding and practical working knowledge of the risks associated with Human factors in the aviation maintenance environment. Our syllabus has been designed in line with the EASA Guidance Material Part 145.A.30 (e) and covers the following:
The JMC Fuel Tank Confined Space training is delivered in accordance with the IAW Confined Space Regulations 1997. The course is delivered by our experienced engineering trainers and active fuel tank specialists. The syllabus introduces modern best practice procedures and technology.
The subject matter for the course includes:
